Dr John Yovich - Medical Director
MBBS, MD, FRCOG, FRANZCOG, CREI

PIVET Medical Director, Dr John Yovich is widely acknowledged for his pioneering work in In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) resulting in Western Australia’s first IVF baby delivered in 1982 and the establishment of PIVET Medical Centre.

Dr Yovich and his specialist team have undergone extensive training in the use of keyhole surgery within major infertility clinics both in the United States and United Kingdom. Furthermore, Dr Yovich has been at the forefront of developing advanced laparoscopic techniques.






Dr Mary Watt
MBChB, MRCOG, FRANZCOG

Dr Mary Watt obtained her medical degree at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland in 1965.   Prior to moving to Australia in 1973, Mary worked in the USA, Scotland, & England.  Mary specialises in gynaecological and menopausal cases. 

Mary has been a part-time consultant at PIVET since May 2004 and spreads her time between her private practice and surgical list and 2 sessions per week at PIVET. 






Dr Philip Rowlands
MBChB, MRCOG, FRCS (England) BSSCCP, FRANZCOG

Dr Philip Rowlands graduated from Dundee University, Scotland. He completed his higher Specialist Post graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Newcastle-upon-Tyne obtaining Certificate of Completed Specialist Training. Dr Rowlands obtained Membership of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1997 and Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in gynaecological surgery in 2000.

He is a certified Colposcopist, obtaining his British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology accreditation in 2001. In 2007, Dr Rowlands obtained Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology. Dr Philip Rowlands has broad experience in gynaecological pelvic surgery, in particular, with advanced laparoscopic procedures.

He is currently Director of Gynaecological Services at Kaleeya Hospital coupled with a half-time commitment at PIVET Medical Centre for advanced training in Reproductive Medicine where, under Dr John Yovich, he is also undertaking a preceptorship in advanced laparoscopic procedures to levels V and VI (excluding oncology). 





Dr Peter Richardson
MBBS, MRCOG, FRCOG, FRANZCOG

Dr Peter Richardson graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1963. He fulfilled Membership of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists training requirements at the King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women and the Fremantle Hospital in Perth, Western Australia and the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney, New South Wales.

Dr Richardson then worked in the United Kingdom from 1968 to 1970 as a Senior Registrar at St Luke’s Hospital in Guildford and as a locum Consultant to the Welsh Regional Hospital Board. During his time in the UK he was further trained in laparoscopy by Patrick Steptoe in Oldham, and in ultrasound by Ian Donald at the Queen Mother’s Hospital in Glasgow.

From 1970 to 1972 Dr Richardson was in private practice in New York, USA as attending Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Arnott-Ogden Memorial Hospital. 1973 saw him return to Perth and enter into specialist practice with Dr Michael Connaughton.

In 1991 Dr Richardson was elected Chairman of the National Association of Specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and continued with this role until 1995. He was elected National President of the Australian Association of the Ambulatory Vaginal and Incontinence Surgeons (AAVIS) in 1995 continued in this role until 2000. During this time he chaired the 1995 and 1997 National AAVIS scientific meetings (of which the 1997 meeting was a satellite of Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Scientific Meeting) at Royal Perth Hospital that were attended by gynaecologists from all over Australia. He has also been a member of the Professional Services Review Panel for the Health Insurance Commission since 1995.

From 1986 to 1991 Dr Richardson held consultant and teaching appointments in obstetrics and gynaecology at Fremantle Hospital alongside working in infertility management, including in vitro fertilisation at PIVET Medical Centre. Until 2008 he had a private consulting practice in high-risk obstetrics and gynaecology with an interest in urogynaecology, hysteroscopy and pelviscopic surgery. In 2007 he re-commenced practice at PIVET in assisted reproductive technology and reproductive endocrinology.   Currently Dr Richardson is practicing at PIVET and our sister clinic Cairns Fertility Centre.




Dr Sunthra Lingam
MBBS, MOG, FRANZCOG

Dr Lingam obtained his medical degree in Malaysia in 1991 & later completed his postgraduate training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the National University of Malaysia in 1998. He had previously worked at PIVET in 2005-2006 while undergoing fellowship training in reproductive medicine. Dr Lingam has returned in 2008 to rejoin the PIVET team as a Consultant Gynaecologist. His interests are infertility & reproductive medicine, laparoscopic surgery and ultrasound imaging in gynaecology.

Dr Lingam is currently practicing at our sister clinic Cairns Fertility Centre.



Dr Sweta Agarwal 
MBBS, MS (O&G), FRANZCOG

Dr Sweta Agarwal qualified for MBBS from NTR University of Medical Sciences in India in 2000. She completed her post graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India in 2003. She then worked as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Hyderabad, India. She migrated to Australia in 2005 and fulfilled the requirements for her Membership of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists while working at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne. Dr Agarwal was then awarded her FRANZCOG qualification whilst working as a Reproductive Medicine Fellow at Perth's King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Dr Agarwal's major interests are the management of infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), menopause, laparoscopic surgery and gynaecological ultrasonography. She has joined PIVET's team in 2009 as a consultant and continues to undertake research and training in addition to her clinical commitment.
