Sperm and embryos are cryopreserved (frozen in liquid nitrogen) in our laboratory.
Embryo cryopreservation
Good quality embryos created and not transfered during that treatment cycle may be frozen and stored. The embryos can be thawed and used in a subsequent Frozen Embryo Transfer.
Sperm cryopreservation
Sperm can be frozen and stored
- When the male partner is not going to be available at the time of treatment
- When sperm has been collected surgically for future use
- Pre vasectomy
- Pre chemotherapy/radiotherapy
- When donated to the clinic
Oocyte Cryopreservation
PIVET introduced Oocyte Cryopreservation by Vitrification in 2007. It is available for fertility preservation, management of oocyte donations, or where there are concerns about embryo cryopreservation .
