Initial Consultation

At your initial consultation, you will be required to undergo a number of tests regardless of your gender.

The tests encompass a range of hormone screening as well as blood testing for Hepatitis B & C, Thyroid function, Liver function, HIV, Rubella, AMH, Lupus and sexually transmitted diseases.

Male patients may undergo semen analysis, SCSA (Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay) and ASAB on the male partner. Sperm can be produced at the Centre in a private collection room or the ejaculate can be produced at home and brought into the Centre within 30 minutes.

An ultrasound scan is required by both parties and a HyCoSy will be required for female patients only. During menstruation, it is preferable that the female is not examined, or has an ultrasound conducted.

You can arrange your first appointment by contacting PIVET. It is strongly preferable that both partners attend the preliminary appointment – please set aside one to two hours for this.
